editing services
let’s work together
Hey there! My name is Erin, and I’m here to be your writing buddy.
Writing is one of those things that can seem easy, but when you actually go to do it, you find out that it’s pretty difficult. You might start wishing that there was someone in your corner, someone who could help you through the different stages and aspects of writing. Someone who can help you keep your writing habit and give you advice as you’re moving through your work. That’s where I come in.
I’ve discovered that I do my best work when I’m doing a combination of coaching, teaching, and editing. So, that’s what I do. Think of me as your writing buddy. I offer developmental editing, story workshopping, and monthly support.
Let’s get started
More about me
At heart, I’m a creative, lifelong learner who enjoys helping people the best way I can. My services combine all the things I’m good at, the things I’ve spent years studying.
With a bachelor’s and master’s in English, I’ve got over a decade’s experience with writing and storytelling. With my diverse editing experience, I’m uniquely positioned to be your writing buddy – someone who can help you achieve your writing dreams. I’m here to help you put the story that’s in your head on paper.
Please note that I cannot guarantee anything like publication or agent acceptance, but I can help you improve the quality of your story and your writing.
[Erin] has an analytical eye needed to catch not only where a reader might need more context, but also provides clear, actionable insight into how to improve the work.

Sci-fi writerWho I work with
While I can work with most writers, most of my experience is with romance, speculative fiction, and young adult books. I’m happy to help with literacy fiction. With an academic background, I can also work with some non-fiction.
If I’m being perfectly honest, I am not the best person to edit your middle-grade or children’s books, memoirs, or self-help books.
Developmental Editing
For the writer who needs honest and rigorous feedback for their completed work
Story Workshopping
For the writer who has an idea and wants help fleshing it out
Monthly Support
Best of both! For the writer who’s working through a story and wants that ongoing feedback
Developmental Editing
There are two options for traditional developmental editing: full manuscript evaluations and single sessions for shorter works. If you’re working through a story and would like ongoing support, I recommend my monthly program. That being said, you can always reach out to me with anything specific you’re looking for.
Full Manuscript Edit – $.03/word
If you’ve finished your entire novel and you’re looking for an overall evaluation, I’m happy to help! We’ll do a sample edit first, so you know that we’re a good fit. Then, if we decide to move forward, we can go over a timeline.
25% deposit required. Payment plans available.
Single Edit – $200/session
Single sessions are best for when you need some quick but thorough developmental editing. The base package comes with in-line comments and a 2-3 paragraph editorial letter. You can submit up to 3,000 words of prose, and I’ll send you a questionnaire ahead of time so I know what you’re looking for. Then, we’ll meet for a 45-minute recorded video call to go over everything.
Single sessions are best for short stories or working through a specific issue you’re having with your story.
Story Workshopping – $200/session
Story workshopping is for writers in the beginning stages of writing. They’ve got an idea, but they’re not sure where to go with it. They need help fleshing everything out, so they can get writing. You’ll fill out a questionnaire with all of your ideas, and we’ll spend an hour discussing them. You’ll finish the session with a clearer idea of where to go next.
Monthly Support – $350/month
Monthly support is the best of both worlds – ongoing story workshopping and developmental editing. Signing up for monthly support means you get a writing buddy who’s there for you every step of the way. Every month, you can submit up to 5,000 words, and on top of my comments, we’ll meet to go over it. We can also go over any other questions you might have about writing and marketing.
You’ll also get unlimited Voxer/email support. (Responses are limited to 10 AM to 4 PM Eastern. Please allow 24 hours for a response.)
This option is best for writers who are working through a larger project and want that ongoing support.

Working with Ms. Lafond was a wonderful experience. She was incredibly professional, timely, encouraging, and kind throughout the entire process as well. Her comments were all very well thought out and provided many new, useful perspectives on my work.
